Ten kilometres from Slano, in the direction of Dubrovnik, lies Trsteno where the Arboretum was founded out of the estate of the family of Ivan Gučetić in 1948.
Their summer house and gardens were established in the 16th century as a harmonious melding of architecture and nature. Today, the Arboretum is a preserved venue of botanical architectural culture
